Man Caused Car Crash, Tried To Hijack FedEx Truck To Flee: NCPD
Police say the man caused a four-car crash, and then tried to hijack the truck to flee. A gun was found in his car, according to police.
GARDEN CITY, NY — A Massachusetts man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after police say he caused a four-car crash, and then tried to hijack a delivery truck to flee the scene.
According to police, officers responded to a call for a four-car crash at the intersection of Old Country Road and Clinton Road in Garden City at 1:20 p.m. Police say Raymond Sojo, 35, of Worcester, Massachusetts, collided with two other cars that were stopped at the intersection. The crash pushed one of the cars forward, and it hit the rear passenger side of a FedEx truck, police said.
After the crash, police say Sojo got out of his car and into the FedEx truck. He tried to flee the scene by using physical force and threats toward the 26-year-old woman driving, police said.

Police say officers arrived at the scene before Sojo could flee. When the officers tried to place Sojo under arrest, police say he refused to comply with commands, and the officers used a stun gun on him. He was taken into custody and to a hospital for treatment of his injuires.
A loaded handgun was found in his car, police said.

The drivers of the other two cars — an 80-year-old woman and a 49-year-old woman — were teach taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The FedEx driver was not injured.
Sojo is charged with second-degree attempted robbery, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
