Man Dies Days After Being Hit By Car In Nassau
Police say the driver involved had a suspended license.
HEMPSTEAD, NY — A Long Island man died on Thursday, days after being hit by a car in Hempstead.
According to police, 46-year-old Manuel Mendez was crossing Fulton Avenue near Clinton Street at 1:12 a.m. on May 29 when he was hit by a 2013 Mercedes Benz SUV being driven by a 34-year-old man.
Mendez was taken to a hospital, and was in serious condition. Police say he died from his injuries on June 2.

The driver, Alrich Braide, of Hempstead, remained at the scene.
Braide was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hemsptead on May 29.
