Mayor Presents Garden City's Janet Curtin With Proclamation

Resident retires after a 45-year nursing career at Winthrop-University Hospital.

Mayor John Watras presented Garden City resident Janet Curtin with a proclamation during Thursday's village board meeting in recognition of her 45 years of service at Winthrop-University Hospital.

Curtin is a member of Garden City High School's Class of 1965 and worked as a registered nurse and clincial documentation specialist at Winthrop before retiring Aug. 1. She was hired right after earning her nursing degree.

"She's been iconic in this town," Mayor Watras said. "She's been the ultimate volunteer and I just can't say enough things about her."

"Kudos, kudos, kudos," trustee Dennis Donnelly added.
