GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending April 26.
April 20
- A vehicle was reported stolen from an Adams Street driveway. It appears the keys were left in the vehicle.
- Loose money was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a Roosevelt Street driveway.
- A driver on 1st Street was charged with driving with a suspended license and expired inspection.
- Two bicycles on Franklin Avenue and one bicycle at the high school were reported stolen.
- A driver was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident that occurred on Clinton Road earlier in the day.
April 21

- An unknown vehicle struck and damaged a railroad gate at the Franklin Avenue railroad crossing.
- A driver on Stewart Avenue was charged with fraudulent plates, unregistered vehicle, and uninsured operation.
April 22
- Officers investigated a report of illegal transactions made against a victim’s bank accounts.
- A driver on 2nd Street was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed.
- A driver on Rockaway Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended registration and excessive speed.

- Officers responded to Manor Road for a report of illegal dumping and found wood pallets and tires discarded in the area of the railroad tracks. The investigation is ongoing.
- A driver on 3rd Street was charged with driving with a suspended license and a suspended vehicle registration.
April 24
- Graffiti written in chalk was found on a Franklin Avenue tree.
- Officers investigated a report of two people rummaging through a vehicle parked at a Stewart Avenue residence. The subjects left the area in a white SUV. There was no loss reported.
- A driver on Clinton Road was charged with driving with a suspended license and a suspended vehicle registration.
April 25
- Property was removed from a vehicle parked in a Weyford Terrace driveway.
- The IRS notified a family that there was an attempt to file an illegal tax return using their identities.
- Firefighters and police responded to a 7th Street restaurant for an alarm and determined the cause to be excess kitchen smoke.
- A vehicle reportedly left the scene after striking and damaging another vehicle at a Franklin Avenue gas station.
- A driver on Rockaway Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding in a school zone.
- A 21-year-old driver on Clinton Road was arrested for driving with a revoked license related to a prior DWI.
April 26
- Three tires on a vehicle parked in Parking Field 9W were found slashed.
- A person’s identity was used to make an unauthorized online purchase.
- Firefighters and police responded to a 7th Street restaurant for an alarm and determined the cause to be oven smoke.
- Firefighters and police responded to 5th Street for a smell of smoke and determined the cause to be ongoing construction.
- A driver on Clinton Road was charged with fraudulent license plates and unregistered operation.
