Nassau Duo Beat Man Unconscious, Robbed Him: Police
Police say the two beat the man in the head, then went through is pockets to rob him.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — Two men were arrested for beating a man unconscious during a robbery last month, Nassau County police said.
According to police, Hempstead police officers responded to a 911 call at the rear of a shopping center on Fulton Avenue at 1:15 a.m. on April 22. They found an unresponsive 58-year-old man with severe cuts to his head and face. Police say he was beaten with an unknown object, and robbed of his cash, credit cards and other personal belongings.
Later that day, police arrested Tyrell Guthrie, 34, of Hempstead, in connection with the robbery. Police say they recovered a knife and a glass pipe containing crack cocaine from Guthrie's pockets.

On May 7, police also arrested Dennis Ray, 60, in connection with the attack.
Guthrie was charged with first-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on April 23.

Ray was charged with first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree robbery and first-degree assault. He was arraigned on May 8.
Guthrie was remanded into custody. Ray was released and a temporary order of protection was issued.
