Nassau Police ID Man Shot To Death In Hempstead
Police say 37-year-old Akini Gibbs was shot multiple times in the early morning hours of Aug. 10.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — Nassau County police have identified a man who was shot to death in Hempstead on Aug. 10.
According to police, Hempstead police officers responded to a call outside a home on California Avenue at 4:55 a.m. When they arrived, they found 37-year-old Akini Gibbs, of Hempstead, with several gunshot wounds.
Gibbs was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died of his wounds. The investigation is ongoing.
