NCC Board of Trustees Calls Special Meeting

Geoffrey Prime replacement, proposed budget and selection of a new college president expected to be discussed.

Nassau Community College's board of trustees has called a special meeting scheduled for Thursday to, among other things, consider the election of a chair to fill the unexpired term of Geoffrey Prime, head of the college's governing board who resigned amid turmoil over the decision of the school's next president.

Trustees Cornachio, DeGrace, Drucker, Powers and Amin will convene at 6:30 p.m. on the 11th floor of the Administration Tower. It appears that there will be a motion to go into executive session after the public meeting opens at 6:30 p.m.
The public session may resume at approximately at 8 p.m. Trustees will consider the following:

· a discussion of the presidential search and the resolving of all issues that prevent such search from going forward; the setting of a schedule for campus interviews and board interviews of presidential candidates; the passage of resolutions enabling the completion of the search

· the discussion of the proposed budget; amendments and deletions of certain positions from the budget; resolutions regarding the budget; and all other matters concerning or relating to the budget

Open public session will begin at 6:30 p.m. An executive session will then follow before the public session reopens.

Almost 23,000 full- and part-time students and nearly 15,000 continuing and professional students attend Nassau Community College. It is the largest single-campus, two-year college in New York State.
