Officers Use Dogs, Helicopters To Find Man Breaking Into Cars: PD

Police say the man was caught breaking into cars and ran away from officers when he was questioned.

GARDEN CITY SOUTH, NY —A Lakeview man was arrested Tuesday night after Nassau County police say he was caught trying to break into cars in Garden City South.

According to police, officers responded to a call at 6:20 p.m. for a man going into parked cars. When the officers arrived, police say they found Georgiy Fayziyev, 35, of Eagle Avenue, entering another car. Police say that as officers tried to identify Fayziyev and determine if it was his car he was entering he ran off.

The officers set up a perimeter around the area and called in the aviation and K-9 units and began searching. They eventually found Fayziyev and placed him under arrest.

Fayziyev is charged with third-degree criminal trespassing and petty larceny. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday in First District Court in Hemsptead.
