GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Sept. 21.
Sept. 15
- Officers responded to an Adelphi University garage where a vehicle left the scene after backing into another vehicle.
- Police and firefighters responded to a residence for a fire alarm and determined the cause to be a faulty detector.
- Police and Firefighters responded to a Franklin Avenue building for an alarm. The alarm was apparently activated by construction in the building.
- A driver on Rockaway Avenue was charged with unlicensed operation and excessive speed.

- A driver traveling on Stewart Avenue reported her vehicle was damaged by a rock thrown from a nearby worksite.
- A driver on 10th Street was charged with driving with a suspended license, switched plates, and unregistered vehicle.
- A driver on New Hyde Park Road was charged with speeding, uninsured operation, and a license plate violation.
Sept. 17
- A package was reported stolen from a Brixton Road porch.
- Officers investigated a report of harassing phone calls received at a Garden City Plaza office.
- Detectives investigated a report of a victim receiving harassing messages online.
- Police and firefighters responded to a school building for a fire alarm and determined the cause was a sprinkler issue.
- A driver on Rockaway Avenue was charged with unlicensed operation and failure to stop for a school bus.

- Upon investigation of a two-vehicle crash on 7th Street at Cathedral Avenue, officers arrested one of the drivers, a 48-year-old man, for DWI. He was also charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and Leandra’s Law due to the fact a 14-year-old child was a passenger in his vehicle.
- Officers investigated two reports of residents receiving phone calls from a man claiming to be from PSEG who stated their electricity would be turned off unless they paid for a new meter. Both phone calls were determined to be scams.
- A resident reported multiple unauthorized charges were made against his digital wallet account.
Sept. 19
- A woman said she received a phone call from a man who stated he was from PSEG. The man told her to pay $450 for a new meter or else the power to her home would be shut off. The victim paid the sum via a money app. The victim realized it was a scam after receiving additional calls for more money.
- Two drivers on Stewart Avenue were charged with driving with suspended registrations.
Sept. 20
- A Deer Park company was cited for the operation of a truck on Clinton Road while being 30,000 pounds overweight and having loose and unsecured construction equipment.
- Police and firefighters responded to a small brush fire along the railroad tracks in the vicinity of Franklin Avenue. A stop order was placed for trains in the area. Firefighters extinguished the fire and train service was restored.
- A driver on Rockaway Avenue was charged with unlicensed operation and excessive speed in a school zone.
Sept. 21
- Police and firefighters responded to 4th Street for a gas odor in a back yard. Meter readings in the area were negative.
- A driver on Cherry Valley Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license and suspended registration.
- A vehicle left the scene after backing into and damaging another vehicle on Whitehall Boulevard.
- Officers responded to a railroad gate malfunction at the Nassau Boulevard train crossing.
- A vehicle was stopped on Rockaway Avenue for speeding in a school zone subsequently resulting in the arrest of two people, a 53-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, for possession of forged licenses, social security cards, and credit cards, as well as stolen bank checks. The two were charged with nine counts of possession of forged instruments and grand larceny. The investigation is ongoing.
- A Huntington Station company was cited for operating a truck on New Hyde Park Road while 6,000 pounds overweight.
