Update: Cops Say Man Who Robbed Nearby Store Wanted in 8 Other Incidents

Police believe the same man has robbed a total of nine stores in Valley Stream, N. Woodmere, Elmont, and Franklin Square.

A man who robbed a Valley Stream beauty supply store is suspected in eight similar robberies in the area, according to Nassau County Police.

Cops released photos of the man they say robbed nine stores in N. Woodmere, Valley Stream, Elmont, and Franklin Square since February.

The man reportedly approaches store clerks with a kitchen knife, demands cash from registers, and flees, often taking the entire cash drawer with him.

Cops believe the man is responsible for the following robberies:

  • Feb. 9 at 9:21 p.m., Shell Gas Station, 928 Rosedale Road, North Woodmere
  • Feb. 24 at 2:17 p.m., Evans Corner, 962 Rockaway Avenue, Valley Stream
  • March 10 at 8:24 p.m., North Central Liquors, 339 N. Central Avenue, Valley Stream
  • March 11 at 8:45 p.m., Dragon Garden, 105 Rockaway Avenue, Valley Stream
  • March 20 at 8:20 p.m., Fortune Grocery, 246 N. Central Avenue, Valley Stream
  • April 7 at 11:37 a.m., Crescent Pharmacy, 42 Central Court, N. Valley Stream
  • July 1 at 9:10 p.m., Little Caesars, 237-05 Linden Boulevard, Elmont
  • July 11 at 10:05 p.m., Carvel, 362 Franklin Avenue, Franklin Square
  • July 14 at 12:40 p.m., Select Beauty Supply, 297 N. Central Avenue, Valley Stream

The subject is described as a black man, 5-foot-10 to 6-foot, and thin build. He has been seen wearing a black jacket, hooded sweatshirt underneath, gloves, and white soled sneakers. He also has a ski mask or scarf covering his lower face.

On Feb. 24, he was seen getting into a white Hyundai-type car with yellow New York plates.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
