Mayor Presents Garden City's Janet Curtin With Proclamation: Mayor John Watras presented Garden City resident Janet Curtin with a proclamation during Thursday's village board meeting in recognition of her 45 years of service at Winthrop-University Hospital.

Kaji Sushi & Lounge 'Coming Soon' to Garden City: After nearly five years, 935 Franklin Avenue will soon serve the Garden City community once again. Kaji Sushi & Lounge, which will be located just doors away from Sushi Ya  is "coming soon" according to a sign on the door. There's activity inside the building and new signage has been installed.

Kenwood Road Land Sells For $501K: The land where a 1950s Colonial once stood in Garden City's Mott section sold Aug. 13 for $501,000 a Douglas Elliman real estate agent confirmed. The 7,100 square foot lot is the site of an explosion and devastating fire that erupted during superstorm Sandy when a fallen tree dislodged a gas line.

My History House #3- 95 Fourth Street: The current homeowners of 95 Fourth Street were curious about their house after hearing stories about its history, but the husband's interest in the home goes further back.

GC Police Assist at Hempstead Shooting Incident: Garden City police assisted Nassau County police units and Hempstead officers after shots rang out Friday night not too far from Meadow Street.

Funny Man Sean Donnelly Appears on Letterman: Garden City native Sean Donnelly made his network stand-up comedy debut on the "Late Show with David Letterman" Thursday.

Police Commish: Social Networking Posing Real Problem: In light of the recent arrest of a Bayville man police say raped a 13-year-old girl he met over Facebook, Garden City police commissioner Kenneth Jackson reminds parents about the dangers of social networking.

Coming to Franklin Avenue: Plancha Tapas and Wine Bar: Plancha, a tapas and wine bar, will replace Upper Crust Café at 931 Franklin Avenue. A grand opening date for Plancha has not yet been released.

Gloria Weinrich: "Library Has Become Beating Boy of This Town": Garden City Library board vice chair Gloria Weinrich said the library has become the "beating boy" of the town. "There's just something going on that the library is not accepted for what we do and how much we do and how much the people in this library do," she said.
