Woman With Her 3 Yr. Old Slams Into Car During Drunken Crash: Police
It happened in Garden City on Wednesday afternoon.
GARDEN CITY, NY — A Hempstead woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated with her three-year-old daughter in the vehicle, police said.
Monique Williams, 35, was driving a black 2014 Honda CRV when she collided with a 2017 Nissan Sentra and fled the scene, police said. The 53-year-old male driver of the Sentra was hospitalized with minor injuries.
She was located a short time later and officers stopped her on Commercial Avenue. She was placed into custody, authorities said.

Williams' young child was taken to an area hospital with head pain and was released into the custody of another family member, police said.
An investigation by police revealed that Williams also struck an unoccupied 2023 GMC Acadia while parking on Davis Street and drove away, police said.

She is charged with driving while intoxicated, Leandra's Law (aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger less than 16 years, endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident. Williams was expected to be arraigned on Thursday.
