Woman Killed By Garbage Truck Collision Last Week Identified: Police

GARDEN CITY, NY — The woman, who was fatally struck by a garbage truck last week, has been identified.

Mahiat Hossen, 21, of Bellerose, was killed on Friday morning on Old Country Road near Glen Cove Road, police said.

Hossen suffered a "catastrophic injury" to her head and body, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been filed at this time. The garbage truck driver remained at the scene, authorities said.
