5-Story Apartment Building Planned For Gowanus Lot

Developers filed plans to build a five-story building with 13-units on the empty lot at 491 Baltic St., city records show.

GOWANUS, NY — A five-story apartment building could soon take over an empty Baltic Street lot, city records show.

Tankhouse Development filed plans with the city this week to build a 55-foot-tall building on the vacant piece of land at 491 Baltic St., New York YIBMY first reported.

Plans call for the building to have 13 residential units and an enclosed parking garage with 10 spaces for cars, city records show. The spot will also have 924-square-feet of space dedicated to a community facility.

Developer Tankhouse, under the name 196 Nevins LLC, bought the 7,500-square-foot parcel of land last year for nearly $5.5 million, according to Department of Finance records.

The site has previously been used as a parking lot, records show.
