GOWANUS, BROOKLYN — Supercollider, the eclectic bar, art space, comedy spot and lounge on the border of Gowanus and South Slope, has shut its doors for good, as first reported by Brokelyn — and it's blaming a greedy developer and a thirsty landlord.

The business confirmed the news Monday on its Facebook page:

To our wonderful patrons: We have officially closed our doors for business. We sincerely thank all of you for your years of support, kindness, and friendship. If we reopen in any capacity, we will post about it on this page. Cheers from the Supercollider staff!

In a note pinned to the wall at Supercollider, photographed by Brokelyn, Supercollider management claimed:

"They wanted this building, the landlord really, really wanted to sell it. It went on for months and it went to court where an arbitrator ordered the building sold."

According to Brokelyn, a new condo is planned for the block.

An application to demolish Supercollider's former home was submitted on April 15, according to city records.

A message left Monday for the property's owner, South Slope Bliss LLC, was not immediately returned.

Read Brokelyn's full obituary for Supercollider — "a coffee shop, an art gallery, a performance space and, to many, a place to go when they didn’t want to go home."
