Hauppauge HS French Students Receive Awards For National Exam

Students took the National French Contest, also known as the Le Grand Concours exam.

HAUPPAUGE, NY — Many of Hauppauge High School’s French students recently sat for the National French Contest, also known as the Le Grand Concours exam, the school district shared.

Le Grand Concours is an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. Students across the country take a written test and compete against students with similar educational backgrounds for prizes.

The district congratulated its level two award winners: Nathan Fernandes won the Silver Award (10th in the country, seventh in Suffolk County) and Akhil Grandhi was awarded honorable mention (28th in the country, 25th in Suffolk County).

The district also congratulated level three award winners: Nicole Florio won the Mérite Award (25th in the country, 21st in Suffolk); Madison Forgione won the Mérite Award (25th in the country, 21st in Suffolk); Louis Fusaro won the Mérite Award (29th in the country, 25th in Suffolk); Trinity Garcia won the Bronze Award (10th in the country, sixth in Suffolk); Mackenzie Juliano won the Mérite Award (24th in the country, 20th in Suffolk); Corie Paolillo was awarded honorable mention (20th in the country, 16th in Suffolk); Jacob Wolmetz won the Silver Award (sixth in the country, third in Suffolk); Tiana Yip was awarded honorable mention (14th in the country, 10th in Suffolk).

The district then congratulated its level four students: Matthew Barshay won the Mérite Award (24th in the country, 11th in Suffolk); Savannah Fasner won the Mérite Award (25th in country, 12th in Suffolk); Ryan Moleti was awarded honorable mention (22nd in the country, 10th in Suffolk); Sajal Varshney was awarded honorable mention (20th in the country, eighth in Suffolk).

The district congratulated its level five students: Colin Buscarino was awarded honorable mention (15th in the country, third in Suffolk) and Elliot Tafla won the Silver Award (11 th in the country, first in Suffolk).
