Hauppauge HS Student Recognized For Dr. King Essay Contest

Through art and essays, students demonstrated a deep understanding and respect for Dr. King's message of justice, equality and compassion.

HAUPPAUGE, NY — Jacob Wolmetz was recognized with a certificate of appreciation by State Sen. Monica R. Martinez’s office for his participation in the annual Martin Luther King Essay and Art Contest, the Hauppauge School District announced.

Wolmetz submitted an essay to the contest, which was open to students of the Fourth Senatorial District.

Through artwork and essays, students demonstrated a deep understanding and respect for Dr. King’s message of justice, equality and compassion. The works were shared with members of the community, on social media and at their annual Black History Month celebration held on Feb. 29 at the Wyandanch Senior Nutrition Center.
