Long Island Man Stabs 2 Pit Bulls, Killing 1: Police

Horrific.

BRENTWOOD, NY – A 25-year-old Long Island man stabbed two dogs, one fatally, during a domestic dispute Tuesday morning, Suffolk Police said.

While investigating a dispute between Malik Fields and his girlfriend, Third Precinct Patrol officers and Det. Jen Pape of the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) discovered two dogs stabbed at a home at 605 Freeman Ave. in Brentwood at about 5:30 a.m.

An investigation revealed that Fields stabbed his family pet pit bulls, Storm and Chocolate, between 4 and 5 a.m, police said. Storm, 1, died from his injuries. Chocolate was transported to the Animal Medical Hospital of Centereach where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

There were four other dogs in the home that were not injured. An order of protection was issued for the dogs by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office that prevents Fields from interacting with animals.

Fields was charged with two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals. He is being held at the Third Precinct in Bay Shore and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Wednesday.
