Suffolk Woman On Scooter Seriously Injured In Crash With 3 Vehicles: Police
4 other people were injured, police say.
HAUPPAUGE, NY — A woman on a scooter was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Hauppauge Monday, police said.
According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place on Washington Avenue at Motor Parkway at 3:42 p.m.
Mariana Oropeza Seijas, 23, of Brentwood, was operating a scooter northbound on Washington Avenue when she attempted to make a lefthand turn onto Motor Parkway and collided with a 2010 Chevrolet being driven eastbound on Motor Parkway by a 25-year-old Brentwood man, police said.

The Chevrolet then collided with a 2009 Jeep that was stopped in the lefthand turning lane facing Motor Parkway, pushing that vehicle backwards into a 2003 Mazda that was stopped in the same lane, police said.
Seijas, who was ejected from the scooter, was transported via ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of serious physical injuries, police said.

The Brentwood man and a 17-year-old passenger in the Chevrolet, as well as both adult occupants of the Mazda, were all transported to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
All the vehicles were impounded for safety checks; anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8452.
