6 Arrested During Drug Bust At Nassau Home: Police

Police say they found drugs, an assault rifle and pit bulls living in inhumane conditions.

NEW CASSEL, NY — Six people were arrested in New Cassel Wednesday afternoon after police say a search warrant served at the house found weapons and lots of drugs.

According to police, Narcotics/Vice Squad detectives served a search warrant at noon Wednesday at 52 4th Ave. During the search, police say the detectives recovered an assault rifle, crack, cocaine, sedatives, opiates, ecstasy, cash and multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia.

Police say that three pit bulls were found in the backyard, living in inhumane conditions. A local animal shelter came to the home and took the dogs.

There were six people in the home at the time, and all were arrested without incident. Yolanda Hyman, 37, Gilbert Robinson, 46, and Craig Taylor, 55, who all lived in the home; as well as Imani Hughes, 25, of Siegle Street, Westbury; Jermaine Porter, 26, of Hopper Street, new Cassel; and Joseph Fountain, 36, of Urban Avenue, New Cassel, were all arrested.

They are each charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. They are all scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.
