Drunken Driver Hits Cop Car To Avoid Arrest In Hicksville: Police
The woman was arrested on Monday night.

A woman arrested for DWI struck a marked cop car while trying to flee authorities on Monday night in Hicksville, police say.
According to authorities, Caroline H. Iberger, 32, of Port Jefferson Station, was driving a 2017 Range Rover erratically westbound on Old Country Road at 11:45 p.m. when police tried to stop her vehicle. Police say Iberger refused lawful orders and eventually pulled over when she encountered two marked police vehicles blocking the roadway on Plainview Road.
Iberger accelerated her vehicle toward officers when they began to approach her on foot, causing the officers to jump out of the way for their own safety, police say. Iberger continued to drive through the area and eventually parked her vehicle on a private driveway on Elm Street, police say.

An officer parked his vehicle on the street in front of the driveway and approached Iberger, who in turn put her vehicle in reverse in an attempt to flee police and struck the marked cop car, police say.
She was arrested without incident and transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

Iberger was charged with DWI, criminal mischief, two counts of reckless endangerment, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and numerous vehicle and traffic law violations. She will be arraigned as soon as medically practical.
