Hicksville House Under Renovation Catches Fire; Cause Unknown
Officials say smoke could be seen shooting out of the roof of the home.

HICKSVILLE, NY — A house caught fire in Hicksville and smoke could be seen shooting out of the three-story home. The Hicksville Volunteer Fire Department was called to the fire on Lenox Avenue, near Bay Avenue, around 6:15 p.m. Thursday, officials told Patch.
Chief Gary Lewis arrived at the home first and saw smoke. A working fire was transmitted and the Syosset Volunteer Fire Department was called to send an additional ladder truck. Unit 582 was sent as well.
Crews quickly poured water on the fire and searched all floors. The home was vacant and under renovation. No one was hurt. The cause remains under investigation.

The Jericho Volunteer Fire Department along with the Plainview Fire Department were put on standby at Hicksville's Station No. 1. Bethpage Ladder No. 4 was also called to the scene.
