Hicksville Middle School Actors Perform Disney’s “Descendants” Live

The students put on the school's first live performance since 2020.

HICKSVILLE, NY — The Hicksville Middle School Drama Club presented Disney’s “Descendants,” a musical that includes all of Disney’s favorite heroes and heroines living in peace and happily ever after, while all Disney’s evil villains are banished to the Isle of the Lost. The production included more than 50 actors, musicians and crew of students in grades 6, 7 and 8. Students performed to a live audience on March 17, 18 and 19.

The show started with the song “Better Together” followed by several more to include “Good is the New Bad,” “Ways to be Wicked,” and “Be Our Guest.” The production concluded with the entire company performing “Break This Down.” Some recognizable characters among the large cast included Maleficent, Cruella de Vil and Snow White.

“This production was especially significant for the cast and crew who were part of the production of 2020’s middle school play Shrek, as sixth graders at that time were not able to perform due to the pandemic," said Hicksville Middle School Principal Mara Jorisch. "Little did we know it would be two years later until they were able to perform in front of an audience again.”
