Hicksville Students Collect Items, Funds for Ukraine
The students collected hundreds of dollars and tons of items to ship overseas as part of the Town of Oyster Bay's collection drive.
HICKSVILLE, NY — Students at East Street Elementary School participated in the Town of Oyster Bay’s Ukraine Humanitarian Relief Drive. Through the month of March, the school’s student council coordinated a collection of necessities like shampoo, soap, band aids and nonperishable food products to contribute to the cause.
Additionally, students and staff were invited to donate $1 to support the Ukrainian efforts in exchange for wearing their pajamas on a designated day.
“I am extremely proud of our students and staff for the overwhelming response of contributions,” said Principal Jean-Marie Serra.
