Man Killed In Fiery Northern State Parkway Crash
The vehicle veered off the road and struck a bridge overpass on Wednesday morning, State Police say.

A Hempstead man was killed after his vehicle veered off Northern State Parkway and struck a bridge at 10:55 a.m., State Police said. According to authorities, Rufus Williams, 52, was driving a 2001 Toyota Sequoia eastbound on Northern State Parkway when he drove off the roadway and struck a bridge overpass at Cantiague Rock Road in Westbury.
News 12 says the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames following the crash. Williams was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for treatment of serious injuries and later pronounced dead, police said.
The Toyota was the only vehicle involved in the crash and Williams was the only person in the vehicle, police said. The eastbound lanes of the Northern State were closed for several hours following the crash.
