Man Tries To Burglarize Occupied Westbury Home: Police

A woman and her two children, ages 1 and 3, were inside the home, police say.

A man was arrested for attempting to burglarize a Westbury home occupied by a mother and her two young children on Thursday afternoon, police say.

According to authorities, a 34-year-old woman was inside her Broadmoor Lane home with her children, ages 1 and 3, when she saw 48-year-old Uniondale resident Angel Perdomo trying to pry open her rear sliding door with his hands at 2:15 p.m.

The woman yelled that she was calling the police and Perdomo fled the rear yard and jumped over a fence, police say.

Police responded and located Perdomo in a nearby Broadmoor Lane residence a short time later. No proceeds were found in his possession.

There were no injuries reported.

He was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary (attempt) and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
