NEW CASSEL, NY — A Hempstead man was arrested early Sunday morning after Nassau County police say he was driving drunk with a young child in the car.
According to police, officers were called to the scene of a one-car crash near Brush Hollow Road and Sheridan Street in New Cassel at 4:50 a.m. When they arrived, police say they found that Jessel Martinez Barrera, 34, of Fulton Avenue, was driving a 2001 Nissan Armada when he left the road and hit a pole. Both Barrera and his wife were injured in the crash. There was a 4-year-old girl in the car, but she was not injured.
