Nassau Man Burglarized 9 Stores In 19 Days: Nassau Police

Police say the man robbed different places across the county, but targeted mainly delis.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — A Hicksville man was arrested and charged with burglarizing nine different restaurants across the county, all within a few weeks, Nassau County police said.

According to police, an investigation by Burglary Pattern detectives led to the arrest of Jonathan Bird, 35, of Hicksville. During the investigation, police say they determined he was responsible for the following burglaries:

  • May 5: Broadway Deli, 21 Broadway, Hicksville
  • May 5: San Eduardo Deli, 40 Jerusalem Ave., Hicksville
  • May 8: J&S Deli, 16 Newbridge Road, Hicksville
  • May 17: The Bagel Shop, 1075 Old Country Road, Westbury
  • May 19: Mala Madre Taqueria, 1610 Old Country Road, Westbury
  • May 20: Angelo's Pizza, 215 Glen Cove Road, Carle Place
  • May 21: J&J Bagel and Deli, 209 Glen Cove Road, Carle Place
  • May 23: Deli Espinoza, 282 Hempstead Turnpike, West Hempstead
  • May 24: Sugar Bae Cafe, 259 West Old Country Road, Hicksville

Police arrested Bird at 11 p.m. Wednesday without incident.

Bird is charged with nine counts of third-degree burglary. He is also charged with second-degree harassment, criminal obstruction of breathing and making a terroristic threat from a prior domestic incident, police said.

He will be arraigned when medically practical.
