Pedestrian Seriously Hurt After Car Mounts Sidewalk In Hicksville

A man is in serious condition after he was struck by a car that came onto the sidewalk in Hicksville on Wednesday morning, police say.

According to authorities, an 18-year-old woman was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry westbound on W. John Street, near Charlotte Avenue, when she lost control of her vehicle, mounted the sidewalk and struck a 23-year-old man at 3:16 a.m.

The man suffered leg and spinal injuries and was taken to a local hospital by Nassau County police ambulance.

The driver of the Toyota was also hospitalized for shoulder pain.

The investigation is ongoing.
