Police said the driver hopped out of a stolen SUV without putting it into park, causing the vehicle to hit a parked car.
HICKSVILLE, NY — Police arrested a 19-year-old Hicksville man who they said hopped out of a stolen SUV and didn't shift into park, resulting in the vehicle hitting a parked car.
Around 8 a.m. Tuesday, police were sent to Michigan Drive in Hicksville for a report that a 2010 Ford Explorer was stolen. The keys had been left in the ignition in front of the victim's home.
When officers tried to stop the SUV, driver Clifton Woods refused to pull over, Nassau County police said. He got out the vehicle on Salem Road without shifting into parking gear and the vehicle struck a parked car, police said.
