HICKSVILLE, NY — A Hicksville woman was arrested Thursday after police say she robbed a local 7-Eleven and attacked one of the employees there.

According to police, Joann Wax, 23, of Rave Street, entered the 7-Eleven at 11 East Old Country Road and tried to grab cash from an employees hand. Two employees tried to stop her, and the three struggled, police said. Wax punched one of the employees in the eye, police said, and then stuck her hand in her purse and threatened to shoot both of them. She then fled the store with the cash register drawer, police said.

Officers identified Wax during their investigation and placed her under arrest a short time later without incident.
