Jamaica Man Convicted Of Stabbing Woman In Front Of Her Husband
Yonatan Galvez-Marin stabbed the woman during a botched robbery.

JAMAICA, NY – A Jamaica man faces 25 years in prison after being convicted of murdering a 60-year-old woman as she walked home, the Queens District Attorney said.
Yonatan Galvez-Marin stabbed Nazma Khanam, of Jamaica Hills, as she walked just steps ahead of her husband on Normal Road in August of 2016.
He jumped out and demanded money from her, DA Richard Brown said.

When she refused, he stabbed her once in the chest with a kitchen knife and fled. Khanam was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. Galvez-Mari, 25, was arrested by police three days later near the crime scene.
“This was a cowardly act of violence," said Brown.

"The defendant – a young man in his early 20s – pounced on a 60-year-old woman as she walked in Jamaica Hills on a warm summer night. The defendant now faces a lengthy prison sentence as punishment for this crime."
