Man Shot Dead In Jamaica, Police Say

Chaz Morrison was shot in the torso, police said.

JAMAICA, NY – The NYPD is investigating a shooting in Jamaica that left a man dead this weekend.

Chaz Morrison, 38, of Jamaica, was shot in the torso at 1 a.m. on Nov. 4, police said. Officers found him lying unconscious on the ground in front of 178-10 146 Terrace in Jamaica after responding to a 911 call reporting a person shot, police said.

Morrison was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The news devastated his two sons - Kiyar, 17, and Ishante, 16 - who told Patch Morrison had always been good to them.

"He really believed in me and my younger brother," Kiyar said. "He always told us we were very special."

Police said they don't have a suspect or motive for the shooting.

"My family will not stop until the shooter is finally found, doesn't matter if it's 20 years from now," Kiyar said.

A GoFundMe page has been created by "52 Dreams" to collect donations for Morrison's funeral arrangements and expenses. Creators of the account could not immediately be reached for comment.
