Hometown Support Helps Grad Exceed MS Walk Goal

Lauren Serzanin, a Kings Park native interning in Florida, says she reached a fundraising goal due to hometown support.

Lauren Serzanin told Patch back in April thatΒ Β she has too many goals to be held back and she has reached at least one of those goals already.
Serzanin, a Kings Park native who was recently diagnosed with MSΒ had a goal of raising just $500 for herΒ MS walk in Orlando. She then figured she could aim a little higher and set itΒ between $1500 and $2,000.

We were happily informed that Serzanin personally raised $3,292 and was the 6th highest fundraiser for the walkΒ
"Many of the donations that I have received were from members of the Kings Park community as well as businesses around town," said Serzanin.Β "One of the largest came from the Kings Park High School Student Council with other generous contributions from San Remo Pharmacy, where I work when I'm home, Past Times Bar & Grill and the Kings Park Athletic Boosters Association."

Serzanin said donations are still being accepted until May 31. She is wrapping up her busy internship with Disney Β and isΒ heading back home in two weeks where she hopesΒ to continue spreading MS awareness with the Long Island Chapter of the National MS Society.Β

"I cannot put into words how thankful I am of everyone who helped me reach my goals," she said. "The overwhelming support that I received from the community was incredible. As always, I am so proud of my hometown."
