Man Found Dead In Nissequogue River: Police

A man was reported in distress in the river on Monday, police say. A body was found in the water on Wednesday.

KINGS PARK, NY — A man was found dead in the Nissequogue River in Kings Park on Wednesday evening, Suffolk police said.

Marine Bureau officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man in distress in the Nissequogue River at 7:49 p.m. Monday, police said.

During a search, a man was found dead in the Nissequogue River, near Old Dock Road, at around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Following a preliminary investigation, detectives believe the cause of death to be non-criminal in nature.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
