Man Struck By Lightning On Long Island Dies
The deadly lightning strike occurred Saturday evening.

KINGS PARK, NY – A man struck by lightning at a Long Island park Saturday evening has died, sources told Patch.
It happened at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park shortly before 7 p.m. The victim, from Richmond Hills, Queens, was standing under a tree adjacent to the boardwalk at Field 3 when he was struck, according to Randy Simon, a New York State Parks public information officer .
The man was pronounced dead at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown.

There were strong thunderstorms in the area at the time, but witnesses at the park say it wasn't raining at the time of the fatal lightning strike.
