Police Respond to Potential Threat at Kings Park High School

Police on Wednesday responded to a potential threat at Kings Park High School, though they declined to offer specific details.

The police arrived at school sometime around 10 Wednesday morning to notify officials that they were investigating a potential threat from a former Kings Park student.

An automated call was sent out by the school district at about 2 p.m. Wednesday to inform parents of what happened.

“The police were on it immediately,” said Susan Agruso, district superintendent. “There was no one at the school who was at risk at any time.”

The school was not placed on lockdown according to Agruso.

A spokesperson from the Suffolk County Police said that there was no real threat to the school and that a former student was taken voluntarily to Stony Brook Hospital for evaluation. Police did not disclose the nature of the threat.

Earlier this week police were notified when a bullet was found on a Kings Park School bus. The bullet appeared to be from World War II. At Tuesday evening's board of education meeting, Agruso said that police were continuing to investigate where the bullet came from.
