Suffolk Man Arrested, Charged With Severely Neglecting Dog: SPCA

The emaciated bulldog was found on the street with sores all over its body, Suffolk SPCA says.

AMITYVILLE, NY — An Amityville man was arrested and charged with animal cruelty for severely neglecting his dog, resulting in its desecrated state, Suffolk County SPCA said.

The 5-year-old dog, named “Dollar”, was brought to the Town of Babylon Animal Shelter on Thursday by officers from a location on Great Neck Road.

The gray and white bulldog was covered in dirt, urine, and filth, SPCA said. Dollar had sores on his tongue, urine scalding to his scrotum, and inflammation and swelling to his legs due to neglected hygiene. He was also severely emaciated.

After an investigation, officers arrested Naheem A. Scafe, 31, was charged with one count of animal cruelty, officials said.

Scafe is due to appear in First District Court on May 31, 2023.
