Annual Steak Fry Serves up Food, Scholarships
Sponsored by Lindenhurst Kiwanis and Outback - and in memory of past Kiwanis president Larry Troiano - the 54th annual event this Thursday will raise money for scholarships.

Organized and presented by the and hosted by in North Lindenhurst, the Steak Fry serves to raise scholarship money for deserving Lindy students.
's Steak Fry fundraiser enabled the Club to hand out $12,000 in scholarship money this year on May 10 to six deserving students of the graduating Class of 2012, according to Kiwanis officials.

And since the inception of the scholarship program in 1961, the Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst has awarded a total of $387,400 of such scholarships to 236 recipients - thanks primarily to the Annual Steak Fry, they added.
"These scholarships are often instrumental in securing a quality education for certain students who otherwise might not have been able to properly pursue their scholastic and professional careers due to extenuating circumstances," said JoAnn Boettcher, event chairperson in a release about the event.

Event Details
This year's Steak Fry will be open for public enjoyment from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Through the years the Steak Fry has served more than 1,200 steaks, several hundred hamburgers and breasts of chicken. Each of them has come complete with an ear of fresh corn, Caesar salad, potato salad, rolls and cake.
This year will be no different, said officials, who added Outback will once again host the event, as well as cook and serve the food. Take-out food will also be available.
In addition to the food available for purchase - $12.00 for a steak or chicken dinner or $7.00 for a hamburger dinner - the Club sells raffle tickets at the Steak Fry to help raise money. And this year there are more than 100 raffle prizes that have been donated.
Also on hand will be a plethora of Kiwanis members who annually donate their time to making this event possible, officials said.
