Original Story
More than 24 hours after a blizzard dropped 20 inches of snow in the Lindenhurst area, many residents are still digging out.
To make it easier, Lindenhurst Patch has compiled some of the most important information into one story.
First, the Town of Babylon asks that residents call the Public Safety office at 631-422-7600 if a road hasn't been plowed at all. As of last night, the main roads had been plowed repeatedly, and many secondary streets were cleared at least once, though some were still difficult to navigate.
Residents living withiin the Village with non-emergency, snow-related issues could call the Department of Public Works at 631-957-7520.
In addition, anyone planning to drive around Long Island on Sunday should take note: many main roads are in bad shape, including the Long Island Expressway, which is shut down from Exit 57 to Exit 73. It won't be easy to drive East. Many cars are still stuck on the LIE.
As for businesses most retail shops that are scheduled to open on Sunday are, in fact, open. But it's always smart to call ahead. The main supermarkets were open.
Long Island MacArthur's Southwest flights will resume on Sunday. Update: Southwest has now canceled all flights for Sunday at MacArthur. It expects to resume operations on Monday morning, according to a statement on the airport's website.
And as always, in case of an emergency, dial 911. For a list of emergency and helpful contact information and links, click here.
Today's Lindenhurst Rotary Club event is still a go, as well.
"The Rotary Pasta Dinner with proceeds going to our Sandy Project, is still being held at the Firemen's Pavilion from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. A terrific pasta dinner and more than 100 Chinese auction baskets. Come down and enjoy a relaxing afternoon of good food with great friends," according to Lindenhurst Rotary Club President Jackie Milton.
And if you know of any other openings, closings, cancelations or postponements due the storm, please share them in the comments section below.
Finally, on a lighter side, please continue to share your blizzard photos with us. Residents throughout Long Island have shared great pictures. So join in.
