Body Washes Ashore At Gilgo Beach

The Suffolk County Medical Examiners office is working to identify the body of a female that washed ashore on Gilgo Beach Monday night.

Citing a Suffolk County Police spokesperson, Newsday (subscription required) reported the body “appeared to be an adult female” and was spotted by passersby on the beach around 9:30 p.m. 

Neither the age of the person nor how long the body was in the water was immediately known. The medical examiner is also working to determine the cause of death.

Police also said that investigators do not believe this body is connected to several other bodies and human remains found in the Gilgo Beach area over the past two years.
