Car Loses Brakes, Hits Guardrail in Lindenhurst
Police say driver in Tuesday evening crash near Town Hall hit an SUV before hitting the guardrail.
A two-car accident in front of in Lindenhurst on Tuesday evening sent one car into a guardrail.
Suffolk Police said at 5:25 p.m. the driver of a white Nissan was travelling Westbound on East Sunrise Highway.
The driver of the Nissan hit his brakes, and, according to police, the driver said his vehicle "lost power" and the brakes failed.

After that, police said, the male driver hit the rear bumper of a Chevy Suburban on the driver's side, then hit the guardrail, followed by a one-way sign.
It was unclear as to why the driver hit his brakes, and police officials couldn't say whether or not anyone was making a turn at the time.

This all took place in front of Town Hall near North Jefferson Avenue, police said.
There were no injuries and no charges filed in the July 24 accident, police noted, adding no vehicles were impounded, but one of them was towed from the scene.
Police officials indicated New York State officials were notified about the broken sign, as well.
