Police: North Babylon Teen Stabbed in West Babylon
A North Babylon teen was stabbed in the back during a dispute in West Babylon on Thursday afternoon, police said. The 18-year-old victim, whom police didn't identify, was stabbed once around 3 p.m. on February 21 in front of the Belmont Plaza Shopping Center at 762 Belmont Avenue.

The victim was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said, adding they're looking for the assailant, who's described as a clean-shaven, black male, 20 to 25 years old, with a thin build.

Police Patrols Upped after Incidents Near Deer Park School Bus Stops
Suffolk Police are continuing to investigate two incidents on February 14 and February 15 in which Robert Frost Middle School students reported being followed by vehicles near their bus stop.

"It has yet to be determined if the vehicles were actually following the children or just driving slowly as we have not spoken to the people in the cars," a police spokesperson said in an e-mail. "While there’s nothing criminal about these two incidents, the First Precinct has increased both marked and unmarked patrols and are in communication with the school district."

In light of the incidents, parents have also expressed concerns over sex offenders residing at the Deer Park Motor Inn on Commack Road, but officials refuted claims that Suffolk County is housing sex offenders at the motel.

"With regard to concerns these incidents may be connected to any registered sex offenders - the Town has determined there are no registered sex offenders residing at the Deer Park Motor Inn," the Town of Babylon said in a statement.

"A registered sex offender recently moved from this location to a location outside of the Town of Babylon. As a Level Two offender he's required to call in his location every night to the Suffolk County Police. His location has been consistently confirmed as outside the Town of Babylon since he left the Deer Park Motor Inn."

Police Seek Suspect in Puppy Store Robbery
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and detectives from the Second Squad are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate a woman who authorities said stole a puppy from a Dix Hills store.

According to police, a woman entered Yipity Yap, located at 1802 East Jericho Turnpike, on February 17, and allegedly stole a black, purebred Pug from the store. The incident took place around 1:30 p.m. The dog is valued at $1,800.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential. A cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest is being offered.

State Police: DWI Arrest in Fatal Dix Hills Crash
A 26-year-old died in a crash on the Northern State Parkway in Dix Hills in the early morning hours of February 18, and the driver of the vehicle is under arrest for DWI, State Police said. Police said Yunior Josue Bonilla, 25, of Brentwood, allegedly lost control of a 2002 Mercedes CLK that was travelling at a high rate of speed on the parkway.

An investigation revaled Bonilla and three other passengers were headed back to Brentwood from a nighclub in Westbury when the accident occurred, police said. The front seat passenger, identified as Gabriel Herrera-Mina, 26, of Brentwood, who wasn't wearing his seat belt, was critically injured and transported to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Man Stabbed at Melville Home
A man was stabbed during at dispute at a Melville home on February 18, Suffolk Police said. Two men - one known to the victim and the other unknown - showed up at a residence on Altamore Street, where an altercation escalated and one of the suspects allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the 43-year-old victim, according to the police.

The victim was seriously injured and transported to Nassau County University Medical Center, police said, adding they're searching for the two suspects and no weapons have been recovered. 

Car Slams into Tree in Deer Park
A car crashed into a tree in Deer Park on February 20 just as police were about to pull the vehicle over for speeding. Police said an officer saw the car travelling at a high rate of speed and "made a U-turn to affect a traffic stop, but the driver had turned down a different block" and crashed into a tree on Tell Avenue around 12:30 p.m.

It's unclear if the officer had activated the lights on the police car before the crash, but a police spokeswoman said the incident wasn't considered a police pursuit. The driver of the vehicle who crashed suffered non-life-threatening injuries. First Precinct detectives are continuing to investigate.

First Precinct Officers Rescue Overdose Victim at Sal's Fruit Tree
Two Suffolk County Police officers revived a woman who was overdosing on heroin in her car in a parking lot of Sal's Fruit Tree on February 17.

First Precinct Police Officers Robert DeSanto and Anthony Cerasuolo responded to the parking lot of Sal’s Fruit Tree, located at 1200 Sunrise Highway in Copiague, after a 911 caller reported a woman passed out in a vehicle on February 17, according to Suffolk Police.

When the officers arrived, according to police, the woman had a pulse, but wasn't breathing. Officer DeSanto began rescue breathing while Officer Cerasuolo administered a dose of intranasal Narcan, said police, and the woman regained consciousness.

The woman, 25, was transported via North Amityville Fire Company ambulance to Saint Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, police said.
