First Precinct Officers Rescue Overdose Victim at Sal's Fruit Tree
Suffolk Police say the incident occurred in the parking lot of the market on Sunday afternoon.
Two Suffolk County Police officers revived a woman who was overdosing on heroin in her car in a parking lot of Sal's Fruit Tree on Sunday afternoon.
First Precinct Police Officers Robert DeSanto and Anthony Cerasuolo responded to the parking lot of Sal’s Fruit Tree, located at 1200 Sunrise Highway in Copiague, after a 911 caller reported a woman passed out in a vehicle on February 17, according to Suffolk Police.
When the officers arrived, according to police, the woman had a pulse, but wasn't breathing.

Officer DeSanto began rescue breathing while Officer Cerasuolo administered a dose of intranasal Narcan, said police, and the woman regained consciousness.
The woman, 25, was transported via North Amityville Fire Company ambulance to Saint Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, police said.

The Suffolk County Police Department is participating in the New York State Department of Health pilot program involving the deployment of intranasal Narcan, a prescription drug used to reverse opiate overdoses.
Currently the program is being used by officers in all Suffolk County Police precincts, Marine Bureau and the Emergency Service Section, police noted.
