Help Lindenhurst Patch Make a Pre-Blizzard List of Supplies

Readers help compile a list of needed items and things to do before a storm.

Unlike that cute little fish in the Pixar movie, weather forecasters have said the blizzard nicknamed "Nemo" heading toward Lindenhurst, Long Island and the tri-state area is likely to pack quite a wallop.

So a full day before it’s predicted to hit, Lindenhurst Patch started our pre-blizzard list and enlisted our Facebook fans to help. Here's what some residents and readers had to say.

Kim Sullivan-Hofmann wrote simply," Gas."

She later added, "Seriously gas, medications, diapers (if needed), milk, bread, batteries/flashlights, munchies, shovels, ice melt, wash laundry before storm (because you don't know you can during/after), shower/blow dry hair (again, power issues), and I make sure I have hot cocoa with marshmallows for after snow play."

She was pretty thorough, but some had another suggestion.

In a word, "booze," wrote Sarah Christina.

Melissa Gianninoto listed, "Beer and snacks."

"Beer," suggested Christopher Ventura.

Joe Chiarelli countered with, "Beer needs ice; better stick with vodka or Patron, lol."

Then he added, "Diesel fuel for the generator, a battery charger and rechargeable batteries , LED flashlights and a Verizon cell phone!"

Erik Moller chimed in, "Check your home heating oil level; get basic groceries, batteries, good friends to drink with."

Lisa Jensen Fleischmann had this advice: "Charge your phones. Have a POTS phone (Plain Old Telephone, not reliant on power) available."

What do you think, Lindy? What are the essentials? What needs to be checked, bought or gotten ahead of the storm? Share in the comments section, below.
