High Winds Knock Out Power for Some in Lindy

A wind advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. on Thursday.

A number of residents in the area are without power Thursday morning after strong winds and rain battered Long Island overnight. 

As of 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, just more than 30 Long Island Power Authority customers in Lindenhurst were reporting power outages. There are more than 16,000 outages currently Island-wide. 

While a high wind warning expired at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning, a wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service is in effect until 6 p.m. on Thursday night.

The NWS has also reported wind gusts of up to 60 mph, and has warned of falling trees and power lines.
