Homeless Man Charged With Murder In Death Of LI Vape Shop Owner

LINDENHURST, NY — An arrest was made Wednesday in the May 2021 murder of a vape shop owner who was killed in his Long Island store.

According to Suffolk County Police, a homeless man, Yoel Atzmon, 44, has been charged in the slaying of 33-year-old Kinshuk Patel and is facing second degree murder charges.

On May 19, Patel, who owned Dapper Smoke Shop at 411 40th St. in Lindenhurst, was found injured in the store by a family member at 9:40 p.m.

The Babylon man, a father of a 4-year-old and 5-month-old according to ABC 7, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead.

Atzmon is being held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip Thursday.
