Hurricane Sandy Through the Eyes of a Lindy Resident

A Venetian Shores resident documents the storm's impact on her home and the community.

The photos and videos from Hurricane Sandy have been seen a million times – damage on an unbelievable scale, losses unfathomable and a rebuilding effort that continues to this day.

The view often comes through the eyes and camera lenses of reporters and volunteers, who have made the disaster one of the most well-documented in the history of the world.

The view, however, was quite different for those who went through the storm and rode it out as the hurricane's waters kept rising through the night of October 29.

Patch reader Lisa Patto, a Lindenhurst resident in Venetian Shores, posted this video to our Blogs earlier last week, showing the damages her family and community suffered, the efforts afterward and the improvements made to her home since the storm.
