Jan. 3: What's Happening in Lindenhurst

Two of Lindenhurst's civic groups meet today, with the Lindenhurst Rotary Club meeting at the Lindencrest Diner at 7:30 a.m., while the Lindenhurst Kiwanis Club gathers at 101 East Montauk Highway at 7 p.m..

At the library, the Ice Cream for Books is in full swing. Designed for youngsters Kindergarten to 8th grade, participants should bring their folder to the children’s room weekly for prizes. Readers who make four visits will receive entry into a raffle.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency remains in place at the library from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Assistance for victims of Hurricane Sandy is being provided.
