Konarski Off to Good Start at Swimming & Diving Championship
Lindenhurst Varsity Boys Swimming Senior Captain Kevin Konarski performs well on the first day of the NYSPHSAA Swimming and Diving Championship upstate, says Coach Brian Washington.

Kevin Konarski, senior captain of the Lindenhurst High School Varsity Boys Swimming team, finished strongly on the first day of competition at the NYSPHSAA Swimming and Diving Championship happening in Webster this weekend.
"At today's preliminaries Kevin placed second in the 200-yard freestyle and fourth in the 500-yard freestyle," Coach Brian Washington shared in an e-mail on Friday to Lindenhurst Patch.
"Going into tomorrow's finals Kevin is in a great position. Additionally, Kevin achieved a All-American consideration time in the 200-freestyle. 1:41.12 and 4:40.38 in five!" Washington added.

Konarski, along with eight other seniors, led the team this year to a seventh place finish at the Suffolk County Swimming Championships (seven out of 24 teams).
Konarski's a four-time Suffolk County Champion, and is recognized as All-State, All-Long Island and All-County in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events.

Additionally, Konarski's the school record holder in the 50-, 100-, 200- and 500-yard freestyle events, and a member of two school record-holding relay teams: the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays of Adam Wawwro, Greg Fothergill, David Andujar and Konarski.
Konarski's also a five-time state qualifier, and is competing upstate at the Championship once again this weekend.
"Additionally, Kevin's the national qualifier, and is due to be inducted into the Lindenhurst High School Hall of Fame in June," according to Washington earlier this week.
"Kevin's [also] being heavily recruited by the University of Connecticut, SUNY Rochester, SUNY Buffalo, University of North Carolina at Wilmington and the University of Georgia," added Washington.
